Coastal and Marine

The Texas Gulf Coast is rich in natural resources crucial to the prosperity and security of the state and nation. It provides food and fuel to sustain a rapidly growing population and is also home to a unique way of life. Balancing these economic, environmental and cultural elements is the challenge that Texas Sea Grant is helping to meet with its research, education and outreach programs and partnerships.

In Calhoun County, the focus is broad and encompasses a wide range of issues, including marine science education, environmental stewardship, eco-tourism, commercial and recreational fisheries, seafood marketing and preparation, shoreline restoration, community resource development and marine debris.
