Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Matagorda and Calhoun County will be hosting a multi-county Hay Show on October 29, 2020. All speakers will be virtual. This event is being held to address topics associated with livestock forages. The topics to be discussed are forage production, soils and soil fertility, and insects that affect hay production. Start collecting hay samples. The cost for a hay sample analysis is $5 each. The first 30 hay samples in Matagorda County will be paid for by Bay City Feed with a max of 3 samples per person, any samples tested over that will pay $5 each. The first 20 in Calhoun County will be paid for by Melstand Feed & Hardware. Hay samples must be collected and brought in a paper bag to keep moisture from contaminating the sample. Hay samples must be submitted by October 13th at 5pm. . The cost for this event is $30 (check or money order) and a meal will be provided.
